Obituary of Richard C. Boll

Richard "Dick" Boll, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born January 25, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to Martin and Dorothy (Hutchinson) Boll. Dick moved to East Rockaway with his family in early childhood, graduated East Rockaway High School, and became a lifelong resident of the Village. He was a member and Honorary Chief of the East Rockaway Fire Department where he actively served for over 50 years. Dick was a retired member of the FDNY, Engine Company 328. For many years he also owned a local tree business. Many people knew him as Dick "the tree man". As much as he loved being a fireman, he loved taking down trees. He was generous, patient, and kind. Always willing to help a friend in need. Dick spent most of his retirement as he did his life, surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed spending time in Bethel, NY, where he enjoyed the outdoors, and the fellowship of his friends in the Cherokee Preserve Club. He spent winters in Boynton Beach Florida with his friends from Colonial Estates. Most of all, he loved being Pop-Pop. Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine; his children, Richard and his wife Mary, Brian and his wife Robin and Karen and her husband Michael; Grandchildren Daniel, Mathew, Christopher, Patrick, Lauren, Kate, Mae and Jack; his brother Stephen; and his loving nieces and nephew.
