In 1936 Phillip Alfred Jannetto was born in East New York, the youngest of 4 children. Four years later his parents, following a business opportunity, boldly moved their family to the suburbs and opened Charlie's Market, an Inwood icon for many years, located just one block from this church. From very early on it was obvious that there was something special about Philly Boy. His calm demeanor and pleasant personality would captivate and attract people throughout his whole life. There was no saying, "I used to know Phil" because once you met him, you had a friend for life. A simple chance encounter would grow into a genuine relationship. He was not only interested in the Arts, but he excelled in them as well. His talent for painting and music ultimately led to a very successful and rewarding career as an Interior Designer. It may be unbelievable to say, but it would be virtually impossible to find anyone… family, friend, or stranger… that didn't immediately like and eventually love Phillip Jannetto. In addition to being a faithful Christian, loyal husband of 64 years, principled father, loving grandfather and steadfast friend, he was incredibly generous as well. It is safe to say that we are all better for knowing the gentle, kind, loving soul of Philly Boy!
