Obituary of Thomas Patrick Register Sr.

Thomas Patrick Register Sr known simply as “dad,” “Pat,” or “Papa Pat,” was loved by so many. He sadly passed away on March 18, 2021 in Oceanside, NY. He was just shy of his 101th birthday. Pat is survived by his daughters, Samantha and Michelle; and grandchildren: Brandon, Kayla, and Natalie. He also has many cousins and friends who still think of him often throughout the US. Pat was born April 2, 1920 in Baxley, Georgia. He is joining the loved ones below in heaven: Mother: Smythie Masie Miles Father:John Henry Register Brothers: Clifton, Johnny, & Bill Register Grandparents: Thomas Ezekiel Register & Daisy His love: Vona Marie Bowen And many other ancestors and relatives. Thomas Patrick Register SR was the son of a small town farmer. Pat was a US Veteran. He was a proud Merchant Marine from 1943 to 1971. He served actively during World War II (1945-46) as a Merchant Marine working as a fireman/water tender & seaman. He was full of so many stories from these times. He also worked as a carpenter on bridges, loved to fish, scuba dive, farm, feed birds and squirrels, eat raw oysters, extra sharp cheddar cheese, smoked wild tuna spread, and more. He spent most of his life in Florida soaking up the sun being very generous to those around him. Papa Pat has been taken care of by his Daughter, Samantha for the last 7 years in New York. He was forever grateful to her for the care she provided him. During his time in New York, Papa Pat had enjoyed spending more time with his daughter, his grandchildren and their friends & significant others. His southern charm was vivacious and if you knew him you certainly would not forget him and how good he looked for nearing 101 years old. His family is forever grateful for this special season of life they got to spend with him. Pat was really looking forward to turning 101 this spring. He had a lot he still wanted to do. It goes without saying no one who met Pat forgot his infectious laugh, smile, beautiful hair, and personality. Please join us to celebrate his amazing life and spirit on his 101 birthday April 2nd, 2021. In lieu of flowers Donations can be made to the : Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation or World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Thomas Patrick Register Sr.’s name.
