Obituary of Kathleen T. Clancy

Kathleen Theresa Clancy (Fanning), age 80, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday May 16, 2021. Kathleen was born in Fenagh, County Lietrim, Ireland to Mary Anne Fee and Thomas Fanning. She weathered the loss of her mother at age two and was raised by her father on their small farm until his passing. At age 18, she emigrated to NYC where she initially worked for family nannying but shortly applied herself and began working as a bank teller in the city. She met her future husband, Joseph James Clancy, through her roommate at the time. His persistence paid off when she accepted his hand in marriage in 1966. They raised three children together, Regina Hiney (Jason Hiney) of Fredericksburg VA, Joseph James Clancy Jr (Robin Lee Casey) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Thomas Clancy (Krista Clancy) of Lynbrook,NY who survive her. Kathleen and Joe had an active social life and many beloved friends and family near their home in East Rockaway. Kathleen continued to work in banking until retirement in 2019 and was beloved by her long-term customers and coworkers. She was proceeded in death by her husband and is survived by her children and nine grandchildren, Cameron, Katherine, Michael, Mary, Fiona, Victoria, Aiden, James, and Matthew.
A wake to celebrate her life will be held at Perry Funeral home (https://perryfh.com/tribute/details/1343/Kathleen-Clancy/obituary.html#tribute-start) on Wednesday May 19 from 4pm to 8pm and funeral services the following day Thursday May 20, 2021 at St. Raymonds Church in East Rockaway, NY at 9:45 am.
