Obituary of Joan E. Sartorius

Joan was a beloved wife and loving mother. Born in South Ozone Park, NY where she cultivated her love of family, friends and her dog Rex. She graduated from Dominican Commercial High School and began her secretarial career working for lawyers and a dating service. Joan and Albert met through their close circle of friends at the Kolping House in Manhattan. After a trip to Florida, Joan said yes to Albert’s proposal and they were married in January 1960. Joan loved Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, playing games with her kids, opening the backyard to the neighborhood and throwing parties. She enjoyed a good laugh and loved watching her “Lynbrook Neighbors” on Everybody Loves Raymond. As a true Long Islander, she would let you know what was on her mind. Her deep Catholic faith was a constant comfort to her. She is survived by Albert, her husband of 61 years, her daughter Paula and her husband Keith Eland, her son Albert and his partner Robin Greenstein.
