Obituary of Dennis Timothy Key

Please share a memory of Dennis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our beloved Dennis was born in 1948, the youngest of six children to Robert and Bridie Key. He was a life-long resident of East Rockaway, graduating from St. Raymond's School in 1962 and East Rockaway High School in 1966. Dennis then served his country honorably in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine. He was a former member of both the American Legion and E.R. Fire Department. Dennis had been employed by Nassau County Department of Public Works at Bay Park until his retirement in 2008. Growing up on the water, Dennis became an excellent swimmer, competing and winning for his St. Raymond's CYO team. In high school, he played Varsity Football. Dennis was also an avid Dart player representing the VTE Tavern for many years. Of course, his all time favorite activity was cheering on his AMAZIN' METS. Dennis is survived by his son, Robert Christopher, his grandchildren Bella and Robert Jr., his sisters Ann and Joan, his brothers-in-law Joe, Bob L. and Bob R. plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby and his sisters Mary and Valerie. Dennis longed for a world full of peace and harmony. He will be missed by all who knew him. May his soul rest peacefully in God's arms.
