Obituary of Gerald A. Henshaw

Gerry "The Gaff" Henshaw on Sunday December 5th, 2021 at 85 years of age. Devoted husband of Aileen for 63 years. Beloved father of Gerry (Danielle) and Cathy. Loving grandfather of Joey, Nathaniel, Penelope, Megan and Caleb. Beloved son of the late Arthur and Mary. Dear brother of Marie, Christy, Kevin, Martin and the late Dave, Arthur, Billy, Annie, Jimmy, Sean, Richie, Charlie & Anthony. Dear brother-in-law to many past and present. Cherished uncle to many nieces & nephews. He was born in Dublin, Ireland on June16, 1936, was married to Aileen on August 2nd 1958 and emigrated to New York in 1961. He settled in Lynbrook and started Shamrock Painting & Decorating with two of his brothers, Billy & Jimmy in 1968 which served to surrounding community for the next 3+ decades. They also owned the Shamrock Inn Bar & Grille for about 10 years in the 80s. He was an avid sports fan of the Mets, Giants & Manchester United. He also captained & played for the Rocklyn soccer club of Lynbrook in the 60s & 70s. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of the Shamrock Golf Club of Long Island & served as president for 6 years as well. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus & the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was also an active member of St. Raymond's parish & served as an usher at the 12:45 mass on Sunday's. He was a kind soul who always greeted you with a smile and will be dearly missed by his family & friends. Rest easy Gerry & God bless.
