John is a special human whom we all loved! How could you not? He made all of us feel special, like we were the only one, but there were crowds and crowds behind each of us! As a kid in Brooklyn one day John showed up with a Mets batting helmet - the best gift a 5/6 year old ever received. That just didn't happen back then. Going to games with Joanne we always sought John, initially for better seats, but even when we had great seats, we would find him and Hank just to say hello and hug. What a guy! Going to the stadium was like going to John's house, you didn't dare go and not stop by and say hello to one of the great ones! The house that John built:-). I'll never forget trying to get a foul ball only to immediately run into John holding a bunch of hot dogs and for all of us. What a guy! John's relationship with my parents was special, as was Bern's! It truly was a love fest and a mutual admiration society and for good reason! Four amazing and truly great people! I also loved him golfing with Joanne and their relationship (lots of inside jokes), really special! He had a special relationship with all of us! My kids adore both Bernice and John more than my words can possibly do justice to, just as Joanne and I! John and Bernice, Bernice and John, no matter how you say it, it's just love and fun and smiles and conversation and great people! He and I have shared some tears too, some sad and some very happy (like giving him a hat from the Masters). I am so damn fortunate to have had John in my life! What a great guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could go on about John and Bern, two of my favorite all-time people ever! John my friend, you are in my Hall of Fame!
PS: Thanks for getting me into the Billy Joel concert in 1978/9 - it was an epic night:-)! I love you!
