I used to think getting old sucked; I now understand it's a privilege a lot of us won't get. My father was the poor man's Don Rickles, he made fun of everyone equally. It didn't matter if you were Black, Spanish, gay, Italian or Democrat; he took your biggest insecurities and stereotypes and used it against and made you feel good about yourself and you'd laugh and smile. And it was never out of hate, but with love and compassion. And that's who my father was. He will forever be remembered for his one liners and zingers, his giant smile and distinctive laugh. Thank you for being 100% unapologetically you. I will forever be grateful for the lessons you've taught me, and most importantly, how to be a father. Until we meet again, I love you.
