Obituary of Lois G. Miller
Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois G. Miller, 91, of East Rockaway, NY on December 19, 2024. Born an Aries to May (nee Rayzak) and A. Charles Grivel. Predeceased by her dear husband, Joe, survived by their children James and his wife Christie, Jennifer and her husband Andrew, and Andrew and his wife Donna. Devoted grandmother/ Dutchess of Phoenix (Max), Matthew, Jason, Brendan, and Stella.
Lois grew up in Lynbrook NY and attended Valley Stream schools. After college, she worked in New York City for Sports Illustrated, Seaboard World Airlines and the International Air Transport Association. She married Joe in 1960, and in 1966 they started their family. She had many interests. She loved to travel, go to the theatre, and visit museums. She sang in the St Raymond’s and Diocesan choir and had the privilege to sing at the Vatican. In the 80’s, she began her second act as an administrative manager at Choice Magazine Listening. She loved the organization’s mission, the camaraderie and being back in the workforce. She retired in 2009.
She was the biggest champion of her kids and grandkids, always so proud of them and their pursuits. She was fortunate to have had a group of women friends who sustained her throughout her life. Her infectious smile and bold spirit made her truly one-of-a-kind.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Broadway Cares or the National Federation of the Blind.
