Mama, I will miss your “Ay putragis ka!” every time I tease you or try to make you laugh. I will also miss saying “Labyu Maaa!” every time I’m saying goodbye to you.
Labyu Maaa!

Q: What will you never forget about Emilinda?
A: Today, I am writing a tribute with a heart shattered by loss but overflowing with gratitude. My Aunt Emilinda, whom we call Mama, was more than just family—she was my mother in every way that mattered. From the moment I can remember, she was my provider, my protector, my guiding light. She gave me everything I needed—love, support, and a place to belong.
Her laughter brightened even the darkest days, and her words carried the wisdom of a lifetime. She taught me the true meaning of love, resilience, and selflessness. She shaped the person I am today, and I will carry her lessons and love with me for the rest of my life.
Losing her leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but I take comfort in knowing that her love will never leave me. It lives in my heart, in my memories, and in the values she instilled in me.
Mama was strength and kindness wrapped in one. She carried burdens she never spoke of so we wouldn’t have to. She wiped my tears, celebrated my victories, and reminded me, time and again, that I was never alone. Losing her is a wound that time can never fully heal.
But she is not truly gone. She lives in the lessons she taught me, in the love she poured into me, in the person I have become because of her. Her love was a gift, and I will carry it with me for the rest of my life.
Mama, I miss you with every part of me. Thank you for choosing to love me as your own. Thank you for being my mother when I needed one the most. Rest now, knowing that your love will never fade, and your legacy will never be forgotten.
