Obituary of Anthony J. Venezia
A Hall of Famer in Life
Born during the Great Depression at home on Long Island in Inwood, our Dad was a Hall of Famer in Life.
He loved his big sister, Sophie...and the Giants and Yankees. He was a very good athlete - and a hall of famer in baseball and basketball at Nichols college, after graduating from Lawrence High school.
He was drafted by the Milwaukee Braves, he instead chose to be married his high-school sweetheart, Anna DiIorio, and was a devoted husband and father for almost 60 years.
Our Dad was a hardworking, honest and successful business man, running the family business with his our grandfather, great-uncle Al, along with our Aunts Sophie, Angie, and Dorothy as book-keepers.
He always had time for summer vacations, coaching our little league teams, and keeping our backyard pool ready for us to enjoy all summer long.
Somehow four children led to 12 grandchildren and then 14 great-grandchildren; he loved all of us.
He loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather...also golf and his NY Islanders and NY Mets...and golf too!
He loved his time on the links at Peninsula golf club with his life-long friends.
He was true to his family, friends and faith.
We will miss him more than words can ever say.
