I'm in a state of disbelief. I haven't seen John in years, but always though of him as a best friend. We shared the same birthdate; every year I said I was going to call him. I regret my inaction. Back in college there wasn't a day that John didn't make brighter. He was special to all. My condolences to his family.

I am saddened and shocked by John’s sudden passing. He was a “gentle giant,” a warn part of the life of anyone he knew. His extraordinary knowledge of both local and family history was impressive – not to mention his artistic talent – and any encounter with him was a rewarding event. John could have gone to all the big galleries with his art. he could have sold his work for lots of money however that was too selfish for him. in his humble love of people he taught students how to love art. he painted local with love pouring back into the area where it was needed most.

I was shocked and broken hearted to hear we lost our JB. My heart is in sorrowful union with John's family and friends, the students he taught who will be devastated with this loss. I told others upon learning of John's passing that when you look at the magnificent sunset in the sky, know that JB is helping God with His brushstrokes.
