Obituary of Laraine Mary Rose Gegerson

Laraine Mary Rose Gegerson, 67 years young, of Valley Stream and previously of Rockville Centre, New York passed away on September 7, 2018.  

Anyone who knew Laraine, knew she was a force. A leader, competitor, and perfectionist, she never stopped until she had mastered whatever it is she set out to accomplish.  A true lover of life, Laraine was a phenomenal tennis player, much to the dismay of her equally competitive son and daughter, whom she frequently beat on the court.  Her Sun and Surf family has fond memories of Laraine, running up and down the court as she was inevitably late for a tennis match. 

She loved to learn and had a passion for education, devoting her entire career to imparting her vast knowledge in the sciences to her students at Baldwin Middle School.  Later, as an administrator, she was a role model and leader to her colleagues, serving as department chair and a union representative.  Even in retirement, Laraine continued teaching as a GED and home instruction tutor, taught CCD at St. Joseph's of Hewlett.  

Later, when she decided to take up golf, following in her late father's footsteps, and joining her husband, Andrew, on the course, she quickly won herself a club championship at Lawrence Country Club where she was named Vice President of the Women's Club and made new friends that filled her life with even more happiness.  

Laraine was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.   Her beauty, style, loyalty, grace, and love will continue in her husband Drew, daughter Lisa, son Scott, grandchildren Luke, Ella, Tommy, and Jack, her sister Leslie, her nieces and nephews, sister and brothers in law, and countless friends that became family.  We will miss her forever and love her "to the moon and back."
