Obituary of Giovanna Pitello

Giovanna Pitello left her post as "Matriarch" of the Pitello family when God peacefully called her home to be in the arms of Jesus, her Savior, on October 7, 2018 All of the advice and wisdom she so freely gave will be cherished and passed down from generation to generation.

Giovanna was born April 12, 1918 in Long Island City, New York to the late Salvatore and Maria Colosa. She lived most of her 100.5 years in NY, 65 of them in Lynbrook.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Pitello, her daughter, Gloria; her son, Ernest; along with 6 siblings and many good friends.

Surviving mom are her children, Madeline (Joseph) Papa, Maria Pitello Chapman, Anthony (Madeline) Pitello, Salvatore (Cathy) Pitello-Cosentino, and Giovanna (Patrick) Kerr along with 11 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Giovanna worked at JC Penney. Her talents were quickly recognized and rewarded as she was honored many times for her excellent sales achievements in the Fine Jewelry Department.

Mom was a woman of superb integrity, she was strong-willed

and progressive in her thinking. She spent her life selflessly raising 7 children having high expectations for their lives.

Your children hold you in their highest esteem. You will be loved and missed forever.
