Dennis M. O’Rourke, age 88 years, of Lawrence, NY, went peacefully to the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2019, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Hannah.
Dennis was born on March 18, 1932 at Joseph’s Hospital, Far Rockaway, New York to Patrick (Co. Galway) and Katherine (nee - Whyte, Co. Roscommon). He attended St. Joachim’s School and Lawrence High School. Dennis served his country proudly during the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force. After an honorable discharge Dennis worked as an electrical engineer with Trans World Airlines (TWA) for 39 years.
On January 19, 1957, he married Hannah (nee-Boylan of Scotstown, Co. Monaghan) and had two sons and one daughter. Denny enjoyed family, friends and golf. He was a life-long parishioner of St. Joachim’s Church, Cedarhurst, NY and an active member of The Irish-American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens in Mineola and the Inwood VFW.
Denny was a great dancer, whose dance card was always full and enjoyed a good card game. He was quiet in nature but when he spoke you listened.
Dennis is also survived by his loving son, Dennis (Liz), daughter, Patricia (Ray), daughter-in-law Maryann, his grandchildren, Corinne, Jamie, Joseph, Andrew, Ashley and two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Natasha, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his loving son Kevin (FDNY), beloved brothers, Gerard, Patrick and sister Marie.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand. (Irish Blessing).

My deepest sympathy goes out to the O'Rourke family. Mr. O'Rourke was a beautiful and special person who was surrounded by an amazing family who loved him dearly. He will truly be missed and he truly left his mark on this world. A great man.
