Obituary of Jeanne Cardinal

Please share a memory of Jeanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

“Jeanne Cardinal passed away at home after a brief illness on Friday, May 31, 2019.  She is survived by her children Joe (Yvonne) and Diana (Mark Harrison); grandchildren Adam Harrison (Patricia), Evan Harrison, Angela and Joey Cardinal; her great-grandson Matthew Harrison; and her brother Leslie Dowling; nieces and nephew; and many friends.

Jeanne was the fourth child of Aldrick and Thelma Dowling.  She was born in Barbados, West Indies, and the family moved to New York in 1943.  Her father passed away soon after that, and her mother raised all 4 children on her own in Richmond Hill.  Jeanne was married at age 18 to Joseph Cardinal.  They moved to East Rockaway in 1956, and raised their children there.  She moved to Florida in 1988 and lived there until 2011, when health issues made it necessary to move in with her daughter and son-in-law in the same house she once owned.  Her daughter bought the house from her in 1990.

She loved the water, the beach, her family, church (Bethany), her friends, her pets, sewing, reading and laughing.

She will be missed.”
