Rudolf “Rudy” W. Jankus, 74 of East Rockaway, NY passed away peacefully on November 17, 2019 at home. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 22, 1945 to William and Margareta. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years Eleanor. Loving father of Jennifer (Lance), Mary (James) and Ann (Brad). Cherished grandfather of Justin, Ryan, Nicholas, Allison, Courtney & Ellie. Dear brother of Otto (Maureen) and uncle to Christina, Erik, Melissa and Jessica. And great friend to many. Rudy enlisted in the United Sates Marine Corps in 1962 at only 17 and was honorably discharged in 1966 gaining the patriotism and discipline he carried with him throughout his life. He retired from the FDNY Ladder 107, Engine 225, Battalion 39 in Brooklyn, NY after 20 years of dedicated service. His time in the FDNY filled him with a bond of brotherhood like no other and countless stories of the times they had. Rudy also enjoyed being a member of the American Legion, Post 958 East Rockaway, NY. Family and friends will gather at Perry Home, 118 Union Avenue Lynbrook, NY on Thursday, November 21st for Visitation 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. Mass Friday, November 22nd 10:45 am, St. Raymond's RC Church, 263 Atlantic Avenue, East Rockaway, NY.
