Alba Garavito

Obituary of Alba Garavito

Please share a memory of Alba to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alba Garavito was born to Tulia Pelaez and Argemiro Abad in Colombia, South America on February 21, 1926. Her family also included siblings; Alicia, Nohemy, Dora Omar, and an honorary sister, Belarmina. Alba wed Evelio Garavito on March 20, 1950. They were later blessed with seven children. The couple left their native Colombia in 1962 with their children to seek opportunity and a new home in the U.S. where they were later blessed with three more children. Alba held many jobs as a laborer and later as a clerk at Trama’s Auto School. However, none was as important as her role as the heart and soul of our family. We are immeasurably grateful to you Mrs. G for giving us the miracle and gift of life, for setting an example for us, for the loving nudge to get a job while young, and for the discipline that kept us from drifting beyond our ability to keep course. We will forever cherish the memories of your smiling face, your warm meals, your healing touch, and your loving heart. We will strive to emulate your strength, charity, good humor, and faith. You were mother to many, not only to your own children. You made a profound impact on those who had the good fortune to know you. We are at peace with your journey to your new glorious home where you will be greeted by family members who have gone before you, especially your son George. Alba is survived by nine children; Evelio, Beatriz, Alvaro, Luis, Luz Helena, Ricardo, Gladys, Tulia, Ramon and their spouses. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; Luis, Robert Luis, Eric, Nicolette, Tulia Maria, Patricia, Christopher George, Jacqueline, Anthony, Raul, Thomas, Marco, Natalie, Joshua, Sebastian, and Tyler. And by four great grandchildren: Alec, Chase, Cruz, and Cassandra
