Obituary of Marianne M. Abruzzi

Marianne M. Abruzzi (1942-2021) Marianne Abruzzi, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Queens, NY died at home on September 24, 2021 at the age of 79. Born in 1942 in Brooklyn, Marianne grew up on Long Island. In her young adult years, she studied ballet and French, and became an avid skier as well as an accomplished cook. She married, became a mother and spent the next few decades living in Queens. Beginning her career with American Airlines in 1967, Marianne spent close to 40 years as a flight attendant. Throughout her career, she travelled the world, working across the desert southwest, the Caribbean and Europe. She was very proud of the time she spent as part of Operation Desert Storm, transporting US Service personnel to Italy, on their way to the front lines. She moved to Florida in 1998 to be closer to her sister Joanne and brother in law Bobby, and to transition to retirement. She enjoyed the Florida sun, walking the beach in the warm air and spending time with the friends and neighbors she found there. Marianne was the proud mother to Stephen (Sarah), and devoted grandmother to their son Jack. She was an adoring aunt to Michael (Ebru), Mark (Suzanne), and John, and great aunt to Justin, Marissa, Juliet, Alina, Evan, Ian and Katarina. Her family was her life. A lifelong advocate for animal welfare, Marianne was a doting pet parent to countless furry friends over her long life; she had dogs, cats and even a skunk named “Rocky.” Marianne had a generous heart and shared her kindness with everyone she knew. She offered tidbits of wisdom whenever asked, and was always willing to help a friend in need. She will be missed by everyone that knew her, and especially by her family that loved her.
