Obituary of Lawrence Francis Dooling

Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On April 22nd 2022, Lawrence F. Dooling ("Larry") passed away of natural causes. He was 80 years old. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives as passionately as he did. Larry was the second oldest of four children who grew up together in their childhood home in Howard Beach, NY. After serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, Larry embarked on a long and successful business career spanning many leadership roles at AT&T, the State of Illinois, Bell Labs, USL, Verbex, Global Crossings, and finally Opnext. Along the way Larry met his one true love Barbara during their adventurous and youthful years in Washington DC. His immediate family soon grew to four with the birth of his two sons Matt and Mark. The following decades were full of laughter, love, and wonderful memories thanks to his lifelong friends and his ever growing family circle full of wonderful nephews, nieces, daughter in-laws, and grandchildren. Larry was passionate about everything he did, be it his career, caring for family and friends, or "respectfully disagreeing" over whatever the topic of the day was. His energy, inquisitiveness, intelligence, leadership, generosity, loyalty, and love will be deeply missed. He is survived by his brother Jim, sister Maureen, wife Barbara, two sons, and five grandchildren.
