Obituary of Nicholas S. Santora

Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Proud Marine The patriarch of our family, Nicholas “Butch” Santora was born on November 19, 1942 and passed away on July 13, 2022 at the age of 79. Nicholas was a life-long Hewlett resident and had pride in where he came from. He served as a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965 and was stationed all over the world including Okinawa, Japan. Nicholas was also a part of the Local 45 Carpenter’s Union and celebrated his 50 years of membership in the union this year. While working as a carpenter, he was a long-time volunteer firefighter in the Hewlett Fire Department. He accomplished so much in his life, but his greatest accomplishment was his family. He will be missed by many, but most especially by his wife of 56 years, Catherine, sister Jo Ann, children Kristine and Nick, grandchildren Olivia, Theo, Sophie and Daisy, son-in-law Kent, daughter-in-law Janine, brother-in-law Michael, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. We are so proud of our Marine and will miss him dearly every day. The family asks that everyone in attendance please wear a mask. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a repast in celebration of Nicholas’s life will be held at a later date. Thank you for your understanding.
