Obituary of Gam Heung Lee
Please share a memory of Gam to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gam Heung was born in China. At the age of 27, she with her eldest daughter, Hoo Toy, moved to the United States to be with her husband, Moon Gong Lee (deceased). They spent time in Boston and Brooklyn, where their second daughter, Kathrine, was born. They later decided to move to Lynbrook where their youngest daughter, Jane, was born.
Gam was a very shrewd businesswoman, running the family business, Lee’s Laundry, in Lynbrook for over 40 years. Not only did she work long hours at the laundry, but she also made sure she cooked a hot, delicious meal every night for her family. Gam loved plants and was an avid gardener. She took great pride in her garden. She woke up every morning at 5:30 during the summer months to tend to her vegetable garden.
Gam achieved her goals: to travel, to return back to China to visit family, and to be a homeowner in America.
She leaves behind her three daughters, Hoo Toy, Kathrine, and Jane (Philip) and three grandchildren, Peter, Lance, and Jade. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. Gam’s family feel blessed to have had her in their lives for so long. Her presence, guidance, and love will be in their hearts forever
