Obituary of Matthew Jenkins

On Sunday, October 23, 2022, Matthew T. Jenkins, loving husband, father of four and grandfather of 3, passed away at the age of eighty-two. Matthew joined the United States Marine Corps in 1957. On September 10, 1960, he Married his grammar school sweetheart Eileen Clark. Eileen and he are the parents of 3 sons Kevin, Brian, and Dennis, 1 daughter Jennifer and daughter in-law Maria. They are the grandparents of Lauren Jenkins and twins Eric and Meghan Jenkins. Being a true son of Brooklyn, he started a career at The Brooklyn Union Gas Company. Matthews true calling was Law Enforcement, he soon entered service as a Court Officer for the New York State Unified Court System, spending most of his career working at the Brooklyn Criminal Court. Always being one for self-improvement he advanced to the position of Court Clerk 2, from which he retired. After retirement Matthew was able to dedicate time to one of his passions, reading. He soon found a love of Golf and enjoyed many years on the links. He always looked forward to his yearly trips with friends to Florida for a week of golf. Always a proud Marine, he joined an American Legion East Rockaway Post #0958. At the time of his passing, he was the Sargent of Arms of the post. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots and the Wounded Worrier Project.
