Obituary of Valerie M. Whitehead

Please share a memory of Valerie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Valerie M. Whitehead, nee Rizzi, age 62, of Lynbrook, NY. Beloved wife for 31 years of Ross, cherished mother of the late Allison; loving daughter of the late Gladys and Valentine Rizzi; dear sister of Lorrie Rizzi and Patty Barnett (Scott); precious sister-in-law of Robin and Matthew Patinkin; adoring Aunt of Anthony, Riva, Adam, Jason, Liza, Emma, Ryan, Grace, and Scarlett; treasured family member and friend to so many. Valerie lived her life to the fullest and cherished each moment on earth. She brought joy and love to everyone she encountered. Fun was a big part of her DNA. Valerie’s family and friends were the cornerstone of her being. She forged special bonds that lasted a lifetime. Although Valerie was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy 30 years ago, she never missed a beat. She was a fighter and had an inner strength that defied the odds. Valerie’s fortitude inspired all those she met. Ross was the love of her life and partnered with her every step of the way. They traveled throughout the world including her happy place Bora Bora where Valerie loved soaking up the warm rays of the sun in the South Pacific waters surrounded by palm trees. Valerie also loved music. She was a “Grateful Dead Head” but Bruce Springsteen was her second love having attended more than 50 concerts. Valerie was a role model to all. She never complained and lived her life with hope and passion, always with a smile. In lieu of flowers, Valerie has requested donations to be made to the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) Please copy and paste- www.mda.org
