Obituary of Valerie Jean Hooper

Valerie Jean Reut was born on June 5, 1960 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Dr. Richard and Marlene Reut. The family relocated to Michigan in 1963 and settled on Killarney Lane in Troy in 1966. Valerie attended Sacred Heart school and then Avondale schools until her high school graduation in 1978 where she was on the cheer squad and in her senior year on the homecoming court. A horse named Candy Girl occupied Val’s mornings before school as well as after school, feeding and brushing, and riding her beloved horse. Weekends brought competitions. Val’s bedroom was adorned with ribbons. Valerie loved not only Candy Girl but all the cats and dogs that were a part of her life. She was a true lover and defender of all of God’s creatures. She also worked at her father’s Dental office for many years. Valerie attended Eastern Michigan University for one year before transferring to the School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Michigan where she graduated in 1982. In 1984 Valerie moved to New York where she has resided ever since, including Bay Ridge (Brooklyn), Rosedale (Queens), Long Beach and Freeport. Valerie was a compassionate and dedicated dental hygienist for many years. She loved her family and she loved her friends. Valerie is pre deceased by her father Richard, whom she adored. Valerie leaves behind her daughters Ryann and Lindsay, whom she also adored and loved deeply, her mother Marlene and brother Richard, and all of her friends who she considered family over the course of her life.
