Obituary of Geraldo Russo

With great sorrow and bittersweet appreciation, the Russo and Castro families announce the passing of our loyal, caring, successful, and generous father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and friend. Geraldo Russo was born on September 9, 1931 in the small town of San Giacomo di Cerzeto, Calabria, Italy. In 1955, Geraldo emigrated to Calgary, Canada where he eventually brought his entire family of 8 brothers and sisters to settle. Geraldo married Elvira Contino and had two children, Franca and Raffaele. Geraldo subsequently followed Elvira’s family to New York, where he once again began to set up shop. Nanu was an accomplished man, who lived a vibrant life. He was known to everyone as a hard worker, a devoted family man, and a faithful friend. Nanu traveled all over the world: Italy, Florida, Argentina, Canada and New York and enjoyed many experiences. Nanu was an avid hunter, wrestling aficionado and someone who loved to take on projects. On February 28, 2023, at 91 years old, Nanu passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family. Nanu leaves behind his daughter Franca, son-in-law Salvatore, son Raffaele, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Geraldo will be deeply missed, but may he rest in eternal peace where he has reunited with his wife.
