OVER 22 YEARS AGO, I HAD BEGUN RESEARCH ON MY GRANDFATHER'S LOST YOUNGER BROTHER, SHLOMO SCHNEIER OF ROUMANIA.. HOWEVER, UPON CONTACTING ALAN, HE REVEALED THAT HE HAD NO FAMILY RECORDS GOING BACK THAT FAR. IN SOME WAY, HOWEVER, I STILL FEEL THAT WE HAVE LOST A RELATIVE. MARK ALAN LINDENBAUM.....GRANDSON OF JOSEPH A. SCHNEIER (1895-1973)

Alan was one of the most authentic and caring people I’ve ever known. He always said exactly what he believed in no uncertain terms. And he cared so much about those in his life, and about what was “right”, that you always knew exactly where he stood on most any issue. I will sorely miss our many in depth discussions about politics, movies, classic TV, and theatre. His passion for his acting career, even though it never really took off, was palpable. Unfortunately, it felt like things were just starting to happen for him in his acting, and then……he was gone. Even though we only saw each other on his trips to Denver to see Marcia, I felt like he had become one of my closest friends. Rest easily my good friend.

Q: What 3 words best describe Alan and why?
A: Allan was kind, intelligent and supportive. I truly will miss my brother, and childhood friend Our weekly conversations, his laughter and sarcastic opinions sometimes brought joy and othertimes lead to deeper topics, with both of us ending in disagreements but still respectful love,/bond .Allan was loved by my wife,Regina, and her friends, who expressed they loved his charm. .The world truly lost a man of integrity. We will cherish our memories ❤️ yet will carry his spirit with us forevermore.

I really enjoyed Alan. I appreciated his genuine kindness, caring nature, and the obvious integrity that shown through in the short time I knew him. I’m sad we don’t have the opportunity for more fun times and Chinese food with him. Sending heartfelt condolences to Marsha, family, and friends.

Ali Cat. I knew him since his Freshmen year at Brooklyn College. He was the first Freshmen that I brought up to the varsity because of the new rule. Since that day he was always an outstanding player, and more importantly a good friend ,& he became part of our family until his demise. He was an outstanding person and a loyal friend. We will all miss him tremendously. It was indeed our deep loss. Rest in peace, Ali. We love you and we will miss you!!

Alan (Cat) & I have been friends since we played baseball together at Brooklyn College back in 1970 & 1971. I actually remember him when he played for Far Rockaway High School & I played for John Adams High School & we played against each other. I didn't know him till we met at Brooklyn College, but I remember his big smile that he always hadn his face when we played against him & then when we were teammates. We kept up over the years. He was a quality person & he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, my friend. Love you, Cat. Larry Cohen.

Alan and I were classmates at PS 42 and Hebrew school and Junior High. He was the smartest and the best at every sport but he never bragged. When we reconnected many years later I saw what a great guy he was. I will miss him. Rest in peace Alan.

I am heartbroken at this tragic and untimely loss. Very sad that I cannot be with my classmates to grieve and honor this truly wonderful guy. Alan could make you feel special just by saying hello to you. Our lives will not be the same without him.

Al, may you always "have a day" in the hearts and minds of your former Brooklyn teammates, coaches, friends and family. In your humble way you will continue to inspire and remind us of all the things we accomplished both on and off the field. "Baseball is life" as we have shown through our spontaneous stories told over the last 50+ years. Its a bond that can never be broken. Miss you and love you Alicat. Baseball heaven is truly getting a class act. RIP !
