Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marty was born on May Sixth, 1942 in Queens, New York. A natural born Athlete, as a youngster, Marty aspired to play Baseball professionally. Unfortunately, that never happened, but Baseball was a lifelong passion along with the Triple Crown of Horse Racing! Marty entered into the US Army in October of 1964, and was stationed Stateside in Chicago, Illinois where he met and married his first Wife , Susan. Upon discharge from the Army, Marty and Susan relocated back to New York where they brought two beautiful girls into this world. Marty had a generous soul, a great sense of humor, and held honesty and loyalty to the highest regard. If you were his friend, or family, you were his friend and family forever. He protected those he truly cared for with the heart of a lion. While living his civilian life, Marty still listened to the Patriot in his heart and joined the Air National Guard , serving from Roslyn Air Force Base, in Roslyn, New York. One was truly captivated by him as he told story after story of the fun and camaraderie found on the grounds of the Roslyn Air Force Base. Many of those who served with him there remain his closest friends to this day. In 1987, Marty retired from his job with the New York City Department of Sanitation and picked up stakes to head out to Colorado Springs to be closer to his girls, and to begin the next chapter of his life with his second Wife, Cary. And in 1988 after training in Colorado, ran in the New York City Marathon. While in Colorado, Marty explored the world of entrepreneurship by purchasing real estate and becoming a landlord. Eventually, he expanded his real estate holdings to Idaho, as well as Arizona. All the while as he grew his Tax Consulting /Preparing business to over 300 clients! In 1992, Marty and his wife Cary , moved back to New York due to an illness in the family, and here is where they have stayed since then. To keep himself active and busy, Marty took a job with Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels program, and also was a courier picking up and delivering life saving medications and test specimens for a private hospital. Consistently since 1984, Marty built his Tax business and actively worked until he suffered a bad fall on July 08 2022 which resulted in a broken neck and since then he has been either hospital bound or in a Rehab facility with the purpose of regaining the life that was halted as a result of the fall. Through out the entire ordeal, Marty never stopped flashing that million dollar smile of his, and never lost his sense of humor . The staff at the Cliffside where he was last in rehabilitation all loved him and enjoyed talking to him as his generous and compassionate soul always shined through. Marty is survived by his Wife, Cary and their Doggie-Boy, Seamus O'Connor along with Brodey the Monster kitty; his daughters, Meredith ( Tim) Rutrough of Colorado, and Stephanie ( Pete) Chase of Arizona as well as "Bonus" Daughter Wongelawit ( Beyene) Alemu, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Marty leaves behind five adored Grandchildren ; Diego, Lauryn, Dominic, Matthew, and Sommer. In addition, Great Granddaughters Keilani and Willow. Surviving as well is his Sister, Peg Hunter and his niece Marnie Shambo and Nephew, Joe Hunter . Marty's long time protege and business partner, Sebastian Dabrowski remains here guiding Marty's hard gained successful business to the best that it can be keeping Marty's high aspirations for helping others through tax ins and outs. Marty was a one of a kind. He played hard, loved hard, worked hard, and had the biggest of hearts to get it all done with joy and integrity. The world is a better place for he being in it... and now the Heavens are reaping his presence there where only the best souls go. REIKI WITH CARY Cary A.
