When I was growing up, I got to spend time with my Aunt Elaine, mostly, at Cherokee. I remember all the fun times with Aunt Elaine. Boll talks & family parties, tire swinging, watermelon eating, Bocce ball tournaments, Poker card games, fireworks & summer BBQ’s, just sitting under the pines listening to the wind, wonderful Thanksgivings, pies in the sunroom, toasty fires at Beeps’s, dogs & cats, Sammie K., the phrase “Get out of the house” in N.Y. accent…(lol), the Station Wagon, shopping, and of course taking over the Big Dock with laughter, splashing, floats & good cheer! Hunting season, Annual dinners, Christmas cards & her lovely penmanship, the word “dungarees”, pastries on the counter, corn on the cob, ribs, & delicious seafood brought from Long Island are just a few things I remember & we enjoyed with Aunt Elaine. I admired that she was family oriented & often visited our Great Grandma and Uncle Frank as a usual part of their time at camp. Aunt Elaine was blessed with a good life & a beautiful family. We thank her for all she did for us and for this world. We celebrate her for doing it “Her Way.” We honor her journey in this life, happy to know she’s free & with family in Heaven.

My deepest sympathies to Elaine's beautiful family. It's been a long time since I have seen all of you, but please know that I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers at this sad time. Your Mom was a wonderful lady and I truly enjoyed spending time with her and your Dad during fire department functions and the ERHS Alumni Association meetings and get togethers. I was also honored to serve as District Clerk of the East Rockaway UF School District when she was a member of the School Board. I feel blessed to have known her and so glad that we had time to spend together and become friends. Here is the last picture taken with members of the Alumni Assn. at a luncheon we had at Alias Smith & Jones on 9-6-19. A great group of great people.
