Obituary of Evelyn Quinde

Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our Mother Evelyn, was born on June,30th 1928, and raised on the upper West side of Manhattan, N.Y.C. She had one biological sister, named Judith. Whom she was very close with. She grew up during the depression and learned at a very young age to be independent and disciplined in managing her way through life. our Moms mother passed away at the age of 19 shortly after giving birth to our Mom. She never got to know or be able to grow up with her biological Mom but was taken in and raised by her moms sister, who she, affectionately, called "Mama". Alongside with her cousins who were like sisters and her uncle whom she called "Pop". Raised in a home where her Catholic Faith was nurtured, it became a source and her philosophy of how she would live her life always calling upon her faith as a spiritual guidance. She would share that positive spirituality with those that needed it or who where open to accepting it. If she came across someone who was in need of prayer she would always include them in her daily prayers and when she would do the Rosary, which was multiple times during the day. If you needed help, with a specific issue or problem, she knew which saint would be the one to pray to for help. I can tell you first hand, that more often than not, it helped. Our Mom had a very bright positive aura about her. Always had a smile and a welcoming presence for all. She also had a great sense of humor. If you could make her laugh it was like a gift. Our Mom graduated from Hunter College with a bachelors degree in business. She spoke five different languages, English, Spanish, French, Italian, and German, all fluent. She worked as a translator at the United Nations for a period of time. She also worked at Macy's Herald Square store on 34th street in Manhattan, N.Y.C. and was offered the position of Buyer for their fashion dept. In 1951, at the age of 23, she was married to our Dad for 70 years. As entrepreneurs, our Mom and Dad worked together as a team building two businesses. The first one was an electronics company called, "Quinde Electronics". this business dealt primarily with securing government contracts to assemble, build and deliver, components and circuitry and harnesses for the, newly established, Space agency NASA and the military in the 1960s which at that time was developing a new technology called, "infrared", this was just one amongst the many contracts they were awarded. They also had to manage a group of employees which our Mom was in charge of as Office Manager. which was one of many titles of which she held within the business. The next business which was also very successful was that of, Delicatessen/Catering. Together with our Moms home made cooking and preparation of the foods being offered. They were able to build a large clientele and a word of mouth following, that made them a staple within the community. Always giving back by providing food, free of charge, for various charities, such as the homeless and church related charities. She devoted her life to being a loyal, loving wife and partner to our Dad. A devoted, loving, caring mother and spiritual guide to us, her sons, Joseph, David, Henry and Stephen, whom which she shared her love equally amongst us. She is and always will be our loving mother who nurtured us with living our lives with spirituality, peace, love, compassion and respect for others and for gods creatures whom we share this world with. At night before we would go to bed she would always say; "Con Dios Y La Virgin" which translates to, May God and Mary the Virgin Mother of Jesus accompany you through the night and keep you safe from harm. Now it is our turn to say to our Mom, "Con Dios Y La Virgin" Mom, with all our Love Always and Forever, May You Rest In Peace In The Glory of Gods Eternal Grace, Love and Compassion.
