Rosa Russo of Hewlett, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the age of 84 years old. Born Rosa Galasso on June 12, 1940 in Limbadi, Italy to Saverio Galasso and Filomena Lisotti. Beloved wife to the late Anthony Russo. Devoted mother to Angela Papa, Florence Russo, Frances Velsor and Antoinette Russo-Sanchez. Adored mother-in-law of Edward Papa, Artie Sanchez and John Velsor. Cherished grandmother of Edward Papa II, Nicolette Papa, Alexa Russo-Sanchez and Gianna Russo-Sanchez. Beloved sister to Faustina (Titina) Rizzo of New York and Francesca (Ciccina) Galasso, Marianna (Mannina) Galasso, Tony Galasso all of Calabria, Italy and Micheal Galasso of Lucca, Italy. She is preceded in death by her sisters Maria Pugliese and Mimma Morello. Rosa worked as sales associate at Leohmann’s of Hewlett for 35 years until she retired in 2014. She was affectionately known as “Ma” to most people who met her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Good Shepherd Hospice in Rockville Centre, NY and St Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY.
