Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Janine Lisa Spigonardo (Shimonofsky), passed away peacefully on December 28th at the age of 70. Known for her lively personality, loyalty, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family, Janine left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born and raised in Queens by her loving parents, Claire and William, Janine brought warmth and joy to every chapter of her life. In 1976, she married the love of her life, William Spigonardo, and for 48 years, they built a beautiful life together in Lynbrook, where they raised their family with love and care.
Janine’s passions included dancing, traveling, attending plays & concerts, fine dining, and most importantly, spending cherished moments with her family. She found fulfillment in nurturing her grandchildren, caring for children in her community, and working as a lunch aide at Hewlett-Woodmere Elementary School for over a decade.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William, her loving children, Justin and Michelle, her adored grandchildren, Sophia, Andrew, Lincoln, and Hazel, her brothers Kenneth and Brian, sister-in-law Diane, daughter-in-law Cheryl, and son-in-law David.
Janine’s family kindly asks that you keep her in your thoughts. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to the American Heart Association.
The many laughs, family trips, and celebrations shared with Janine will be treasured always. Her love and spirit will remain with us forever and she will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
