Dearest Mike, Anthony and Roseanne, I am so sorry to not be able to be there to celebrate the life of your dad. Some of the most vivid memories of my teen years are centered around those fields where our families gathered to play ball and, consequently, to teach their children. I know, and you know from past experience that there are few words that bring comfort. Whether we expect to lose or not, lose we will. And each time the paradigm shifts we make some more space in our hearts. The good thing is that our hearts expand beyond our own physical limits. But thinking of Mike Torre will always put a smile on my face as I remember that steadfast and often mischievous man who knew what mattered in life and who, along with Pat, knew enough to teach all of you the same. I send you all my love and will light a candle here in Italy for his ascension. All my love, Dianne
