I still remember the day my teacher pulled me aside after class and told me you'd passed away the night before. That memory still pops into my head from time to time, and all my other memories of you follow it. One of my very few regrets in life is not being a better friend to you. Maybe I could have noticed what was happening before it was too late if I'd spent more time with you. I could have given you the friendship you deserved. You were such a pure and happy person, Nick. It's not fair.
You changed me. Since that day, I've devoted my life to making other people's lives better. I strive to be as altruistic as possible. And I do it because of you. I'm sorry, Nick. I'm sorry for not coming to your birthday party. I'm sorry for not accepting the birthday present you got me. I'm sorry for not being there for you.
I wish you were alive today, hanging out at my house, playing Mega Man or watching old WWE episodes and Newgrounds flash animations. But you're not. So your memory will live on in my heart forever.
