Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family of Kathleen Tolan. We were absolutely heartbroken when we heard the news. We are patrons of the East Rockaway library and Kathleen always greeted us with a warm and friendly smile. She got to know us over the years and when my daughter was little she would stand on a stool near the front desk so that she could talk to Kathleen. Kathleen was only too happy to engage my daughter in conversation. I remember one time when my daughter's picture made it into The Herald. The moment we walked into the library, Kathleen ran and got the paper to show us. She was as excited as us. Kathleen was a very special lady and we will miss her very much. XOXO

Dear Dawn, Erick, Aidan and Stuart, and of course to Cynthia and Kathleen and the rest of the family, I'm so very sad to hear of the sudden loss of your beloved mother and grandmother. Grandma Kathy (and your entire extended family) was the New York grandmother to luca and Mina and dear to our heart. I am so grateful I got to see her at Stuart's graduation celebration and to give her a big hug. She was always so sweet and kind and a joy to be around. My heart breaks for you all.
