My dear Aida just wanted to let your family know how much of an amazing woman you were and how great an impact you had on my life. I know you’re gone from this world but not gone from our hearts. Two years ago I met you and we just hit it off you accepted me as family, there was not a single time you didn’t have a smile on your face. Our conversations almost never included your situation in spite of what you were going through. Today I sit at my desk at work sad and shedding a tear not because we lost you to cancer but because the world lost an amazing woman. Your battle was admirable and I know the good lord is keeping you in his arms. Until we meet again someday Aida I just want to say I miss you. I will forever miss you. My dearest friend RIP.

Personally, I feel I am almost without proper words to describe this beautiful, fine being. It is my opinion that in these days, a being such as Aida is considered rare in character with her calm, inner beauty, unconditional love and a contagious laughter; she possesses a natural gift and delight for life and all despite any storm big or small.
You notice as you read this that I speak of her in present time or tense. My family and friends, she lost her body but, in my view, she is well alive and vibrant. We shed our coat but we seek greater and higher opportunity for a fresh start and to rise to great height and awareness. Who has said that life is lost never again to continue? Blah! The spirit never dies.
I salute you, Aida! Explore and conquer once again, our dearest Warrior of life!
I love thee and may we cross paths again.

My dearest Del Orbe family,

I met Aida over 30 years ago. She came into our lives and she became our sister instantly. Her joyful personality, her beautiful smile, her humbleness made us fall in love with her from the moment we met her. Her sincerity and her funny way of making one crack up in laughter is something that will stay alive within me. Everybody that met Aida was truly blessed. Having a human being with such a beautiful heart, full of love, laughter and compassion is a tremendous blessing . She would dance with you and she would cry with you and she would laugh with you throughout your lifetime. Always kept in touch, no matter the distance. My heart is aching profoundly for having lost such a beautiful soul, friend, sister. May Aida Rest In Peace. Will forever love you Aida and will forever keep our memories together alive within my heart.

Raquel, there are really no words to say during this very difficult time. I imagine there is no worse time than the loss of a mother. I met Aida through her cousin (my best friend Glendy) when I was just barely a teenager. Her son Jason was not even a year old at the time. I immediately loved her. She was just such a joy to be around. She exuded happiness and joy. She was by far one of the best humans I’ve met in my life and the world will be a sad place without her laughter, her jokes and simply her beautiful self. I met Aida when I interviewed her for a job at Quebecor World. We hit it off immediately and it wasn’t long before we became good friends. To me, Aida was the definition of LIFE. You could not be around her without cracking up at something she did or said. She found amusement in just about everything. You couldn’t ask for a better friend. Whatever you needed, however she could help, you could count on her.
Racquel and Jason, you were your Mom’s pride and joy.
Carlos, you made Aida sooooo happy. She knew she could be difficult at times and even though she didn’t like it too much when I called her out on some of her shenanigans, she usually agreed with me. You were a Godsend to her and she loved you fiercely. Your love and devotion to her is evident to everyone. Thank you for being her protector, her provider, her rock, her EVERYTHING.
My heart is broken over the loss of my friend and there will be tears for quite a while. But over the years we’ve had so much fun and so many laughs that I have a lifetime of memories to make me smile. And when those gates open, and Bruno Mars Uptown Funk starts playing…..Heaven is going to be jumping! Let’s pour the champagne…. because in my girl’s words…. “Say no to champagne, say no to life!"

I worked with Aida when Quebecor bought the Petty Company, where I was employed. She was secretary to Peter and she made us feel welcome right away, sensing that we all were a little nervous after working with a small bunch of people. Over the years we all became a very tight knit bunch of friends and many times went out to party after work. I also remember when she used to bring Jason to work some days when he was a little boy and he would sit under a desk and play and Aida made sure he behaved himself.
Over the years, since I retired, we have emailed back and forth and in 2014 I came into the city and she and Chris Gallagher had a great time partying like the old days.
I will miss her but am happy she is out of pain now.
