The loss of Derek, a soul imbued with such love and spirit, has come as a profound shock. His intelligence coupled with his sparkling humour brought light into my life during our shared struggles in darkness. The vibrancy of his presence and the radiance of his smile shall be profoundly missed. May Derek be at peace now, reunited with his beloved mother and Teddy. Despite the sadness, I take solace knowing that he is resting as an angel should.

I actially wrote this on his face bood to but I got a little emotional. I dont kniw the exact details nor do I need to. His and I we are the same. Same disease. Of the mind body and spirit it comes in this 3s always. What I noticed tge first time we saw him runny down tge airport talking about music even before he asked our name. "" ok 5 best rock bands in 90's sublime doesnt count and when we get down to 60' Phish. It dawned on my with my empathetic power showed me the diseased could not touch his spirit. And it never did. He never let it win in that aspetic. Im crying so hard so sad. Loves prqyers

Derek was such a goofy sweet guy. I drove him to and from work when he started at Starlite so we had many conversations about life…he always had such an interesting opinion on things. He was one of the few people that could call me out on my bs and I would actually listen. He touched hundreds of peoples lives while he was here. He is dearly missed. Love you Derek rest well my friend and rock out up there for all the angels.

Derek is one of a kind , I am deeply saddened by his passing , he would always point out the way I said a word he would say you hear that , you hear that accent.. God must of needed a really good guitar player up there and he now has one of the best . This is a tough loss Derek my heart is broken but I know I’ll see you again Derek may you Rest In Peace and know that you were loved . God Bless .
