Obituary of Derek James Hislop
Please share a memory of Derek to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Derek Hislop, loving son of Andrew Hislop and the late Leslie Hislop. Devoted brother of Jasmine. Cherished uncle of Ryan. Dear stepson of Mayra Hislop. Derek passed unexpectedly on September 27th, 2021. His family recently had the joy of watching him perform as Master of Ceremonies for his sister Jasmine's wedding the previous week.
Derek’s spirit was infectious and left a lasting impression on thousands of people over the years. In his various positions at rehabilitation facilities in California, Texas and Florida, Derek was responsible for saving and changing the lives of so many that were in dire need. Growing up in Islip, New York, Derek also had a profound influence on the lives of his family and friends. In the wake of his passing, his social media pages have been flooded with the most positive and inspiring remembrances from friends, family, and former clients. It’s with this ability to affect people so intensely with his benevolent spirit that we want him to be remembered.
In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions in Derek's name to:
