Obituary of AVIS PAUL
TRIBUTE TO AVIS M. PAUL
Home-going 6 April 2020
Avis M. Paul, nee Adrian, walked into glory with the Lord in Brooklyn NY, USA on April 6, 2020. Born in Guyana to Tryphena Knights and James Adrian, she migrated to the USA in 1983. Avis, a God-fearing and loyal woman, impressed everyone who knew her with her strong and quiet faith. Passionate about God and regardless of circumstances or opinions, she never let anyone sway her from attending church; she went because she wanted to worship and pray to God- it worked for her, and God DID take care of her.
Avis exhibited this same steadfastness in her friendships and relationships. Once she was your friend, she was your friend for life, defending you regardless of whatever people said or thought about you, always being there to serve others, sacrificing herself to visit, care and comfort others.
She married Rupert Allan Paul in 1954 standing loyally by his side for 55 years until his death in December 2012. Together they had 10 children but only 6 are still alive to celebrate her amazing life.
Following the death of her husband, Avis became ill and never really recovered to complete health. Many times her family and friends believed she was ready to transition to glory and never thought she would make it to this age considering that she was constantly hospitalized. We all soon learned that Avis was very strong and a real fighter. Her resolute faith and the Lord’s grace always kept her around.
After this long battle, she was ready to transition. but we did not expect that it would be under these circumstances and at a time when no one in the family could be there with her. Our only consolation is that the Lord she whom she loved so much, was there with her.
Avis also leaves behind, 15 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren- all whom she loved and all of whom were touched by her grace.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to her home health attendants who took loving care of Avis during her illness. We would specifically like to thank Cecille, Mary, Myrtha, and Yaa for their dedication.
