Obituary of Richard Warren Zeff

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard Warren Zeff, 73, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2022, with his loving family by his side. He was born June 2, 1949, in New York City to Seymour and Geraldine Zeff. From a very young age, Rick was a strong believer in and supporter of social justice and racial harmony. He was a longtime member of the Bahá’í Faith and devoted much of his time to sharing his faith with others. Rick was a creative and divergent thinker with a truly unique sense of humor. His depth of knowledge in poetry, literature, theology, philosophy, film, music, and art enabled him to converse with people of varied interests and backgrounds. All who spoke with him learned something new. From stargazing on summer nights to taking drives to admire the fall foliage or a fresh snowfall, Rick relished living in the Northeast and always found a way to enjoy the beauty that each season offered. However, nothing brought him more pride and joy than his wife and children. He eagerly supported them in their interests and endeavors and never missed an opportunity to speak about their accomplishments. Rick is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia Zeff; daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Morgan Sirlin; son, Zachary Zeff; sister and brother-in-law, Monica and Dennis Gorlick. He was also proudly anticipating the birth of his first grandchild this fall. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree or making a donation in Rick’s memory to one of his favorite causes, The Southern Poverty Law Center or The Interfaith Nutrition Network of Hempstead, New York.
