Obituary of Martin Peter Sasso

Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martin P. Sasso passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022. He was a life-long resident of the five towns. Born on January 11, 1933 to immigrant parents, he was the third of five children. Martin graduated and earned a master's degree from Buffalo State University. He became an art teacher soon after at W. Tresper Clarke High School, spending his entire 40 year career there. He loved his teaching job as well as traveling and golfing, but most of all he loved his family. Martin is survived by his sister Anna, 11 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews. He is united in heaven with his brother, Carl Sasso, sisters Josie Nowinski and Frances Patitucci, and niece Joanne Budetti. HIs other passions were his faith and beloved St. Joachim Church. Every Christmas, Martin created a spectacular nativity scene in the church for all to enjoy. He was instrumental in developing the food pantry at St. Joachim Church and worked tirelessly to keep it flourishing. He was truly a giving soul and will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, Martin's wishes were to have donations made to St. Joachim's Food Pantry in his name.
